Meadow View is close to Windermere, Ambleside, Kendal, the Kentmere Valley, wonderful walking, mountain biking and cycling locations. 2-5m walk from railway & bus stop.

Staveley is a vibrant, yet peaceful village with excellent village amenities. We have three comfortable bedrooms, (see our other listings), warm shower room floors, hot powerful showers, simple, good quality breakfasts. Our other rooms appear to be along the road but they're all on one floor. This is an AirBnB mapping issue!

All rooms are upstairs and have sloping ceilings so very tall people will wish to bear this in mind!

Special interests are hill and mountain walking and running, kayaking, rock climbing, scrambling, cycling and mountain biking. Dan is a qualified mountain instructor and can be booked for days out and instruction. He has over 40 years experience, and is reassuring, competent and knowledgeable about the geology and geography of the Lake District. For further details, just ask!

Gilpin Mill B&B near Lake Windermere

Gilpin Mill is a tranquil retreat set in a forgotten valley just a short drive from Lake Windermere and everything the south Lakes has to offer.

A colourful garden, wildlife galore and a house built for comfort, Gilpin Mill gives you the perfect excuse to escape from it all.

Gilpin Mill has been a mill from the 1500's to the end of the 19th century. Now, with a new mill house built for comfort and relaxation with oak beams, slate floors and open fires Gilpin Mill is a very welcoming bed and breakfast run by Steve and Jo Ainsworth.

Although the house is within a fifteen minute drive to Lake Windermere it is well off the beaten track and offers complete peace and quiet, especially in the south facing garden.

When it comes to eating out ten minutes on country lanes will take you to the nearest pubs, either the award winning Punch Bowl in Crosthwaite, the Brown Horse at Winster, Gilpin Spice or, for fine dinning, the Gilpin Hotel.

There are plenty of footpaths for walkers and country lanes and bridleways for cyclists on the doorstep. For golfers there are two courses within two miles of Gilpin Mill and there is a good quality, municipal tennis court down the lane in Crosthwaite.

Pound Farm Holiday Chalets, Pods & Touring

The rural setting makes the most of the stunning views the area has to offer. It is understandable why Alfred Wainwright was so inspired by Bowness on Windermere. You will find Pound Farm Park nestling quietly in the Lake District National park just outside Windermere and Kendal. This is a perfect location to access the lakes but also offers a rural setting just outside the bustling towns.

The Park is superbly designed with local slate walls on either side of our main access bordering our elegant lodges as you look down the park.

It is ideally situated for you to enjoy all the Lake District has to offer whether it is sightseeing walking cycling climbing sailing or just relaxing away from it all.

The Park is peaceful with abundant local wildlife and if you are lucky you may meet our near tame robins and pheasants. We are easy to access, just 15 min from J36 of the M6 although a rural setting we are just 400m from the Sun Inn at Crook who offer excellent meals and ales.

Bull Copy Campsite

  • Peaceful back to basics Cumbria site with lovely Lake District views
  • A 10-minute drive to either Kendal or Windermere
  • Tree-lined grass pitch area a mile from the local village pub
Time for a slice of the simple life? Grab a peaceful Lake District pitch at Bull Copy Campsite and immerse yourselves in proper scenic countryside with few distractions. This back to basics site has life’s essentials in place – in the form of drinking water, toilets and showers – but hasn’t gone overboard with other facilities, so you’ll simply be left to set up your space and soak up the gorgeous views of the surrounding countryside. Pitches here are on grass with trees around the field to provide a bit of shelter and shade – and the views are pretty much green as far as you can see… This setting gives the place a remote atmosphere that’s well suited to adventurous travellers, nature lovers and serenity-seeking couples or families. That said, it’s not actually all that remote – handily, you’ll be able to drive to either Kendal in about 10 minutes for cultural attractions, shops and places to eat, and popular Windermere is about the same distance in the other direction. Closer still are a smart rural restaurant and the little village of Crook, a mile away and the home of the local pub – both excellent options for a good feed.
